History Overlooked Some Vacaville Names / Rico, John [936] [RICO-1979-936]
BITS OF NEWS ABOUT PEOPLE IN OUR PAST - Quite often the unpublished quirks or idiosyncrasies of individuals in our past have escaped historians or news writers. It should be interesting to go back, pick out some of these people, and relate a few squibs which made these people a bit unique to their neighbors and friends. Constable Joe Stadtfeld is mentioned in this article..

Old Time News Writing / Wichels, Ernest [775] [WICHELS-1963-775]
Like women's fashions, automobile bodies and hair-dos, the style of reporting news also changes with the years. In our research the past few weeks, poring over the century-old editions of our Vallejo newspapers, we have gleaned some amusing stories. The most interesting aspect is that the city editor, in the olden days, always editorialized in his reporting. Today no city desk would dare to do so.

The Vacaville Cousins Who Gave Their Lives / Rico, John [922] [RICO-1979-922]

Vacaville's Past Rests Upon A Peaceful Hill / Rico, John [920] [RICO-1979-920]
AT REST - PEACEFULLY UPON A HILL - While I do not cherish the assignment of reporting the obituaries in this newspaper, I do so having been a resident here for more than 60 years, and having known thousands of neighbors, friends and relatives who have gone to their last rewards.

There has been a lot in the news lately about frustrating airport delays and gridlock on the nation's highways. Our lives have become so fast-paced even short travel interruptions are quite frustrating.

Travelers bugged by strange bedfellows Lodgings harbored pesky critters and sleepless nights / Bowen, Jerry [660] [WAYITWAS-2006-660]
I was watching the news today regarding the infestation of bedbugs and about fleas carrying West Nile virus. The media went on and on about people traveling all over the world and the result is that diseases and bugs of all kinds are being spread over areas once free from such things.
