In 1883, the big fall event was the huge Christian Church state conference at Oiler's Grove, which lasted for many days and brought in churchmen and followers from many areas. The Davis House in Vacaville, always a hub of activity, hosted Professor Hand of the firm Rham and Hand in Woodland for about a week.
