Information for this article came from the Vacaville Museum, Vacaville Heritage Council, and the Vacaville Public Library What was the Maine Prairie Township lies about 10 miles southeast of Dixon and 18 miles northeast of Fairfield on Highway 113, the Rio-Dixon Road. Towns in the township were Maine Prairie and Binghamton.

First in a series The low-range Potrero Hills start about three miles southeast of Fairfield and run some five miles or 10,000 acres. The maximum elevation is 400 feet above sea level. The geologists find the fact that they run in an east-west direction - interesting, as the majority of such features in the area run northwest.

Named "The Bells of Solano County Exposition," it took place in Fairfield in late May 1930. The initial idea for this event came from Solano Republican publisher David A. Weir. His goal was to combine his newspaper's 75th anniversary with a large, agriculture-oriented fair showcasing the county.

A short article in the May 10, 1934 Solano Republican stated, "Chief Solano To Be Honored June 3 - In one of California's first gestures to the Indian, the 12-foot tall bronze statue of Chief Solano by William Gordon Huff, made possible by a state appropriation in 1933, will be unveiled at out-of-door ceremonies, where he will grace the top of a beautiful knoll north of the Highway (U.S. 40), four miles west of Fairfield, Sunday, June 3, at 2 p.m."
