In 1852, Mason Wilson and his wife, Luzena, a North Carolina native, arrived from the gold fields to harvest the wild hay in Solano that was selling for $150 a ton in San Francisco. Traveling in a covered wagon, they arrived in Vacaville and set up their rig on Main Street.

Information for this article the second of two parts, came from "History of the Vaca Clan" by Jeff Paul; the Vacaville Heritage Council and the Vacaville Museum. In 1845, Vaca added to his household when he married Estefano Martinez. They had one child. The marriage didn't last.

VALLEJO'At the close of World War II, the employees and enlisted men and women who were stationed at Mare Island needed an outlet, something to break up the boredom. The Mare Island Recreation Association decided to form a theater group. From these practical beginnings, the theatrical troupe would grow and flourish and contribute in no small measure to the cultural and civic life of the Vallejo area.
