For the past few months the Vacaville Heritage Council has been researching old records, history books and maps trying to learn more about a small stone and adobe structure near Suisun Valley Road on the old Mangels Winery property.

In 1873, Dr. G.H. Evans was located in Dixon on the east side of Main Street. An Odd Fellows association was being formed at Vaca Station (Elmira). The Rio Vista Fire Department purchased a bell from one of the Sacramento engine companies.

The long journey to California in 1846 / Dingler, Nancy [480] [RETROSPECT-2003-480]
In the quiet shade and shadows of the pioneer Rockville cemetery stand two stone monuments. Inscribed on the smaller rough-hewn, mossy natural headstone is the name Alford. Placed nearby is a little "stone house" quarried from the same stone that makes up the cemetery chapel.
