The City of Vacaville Historic District Review Committee was appointed by the City Council to review the potential of an historic district in the Main Street area. The Committee spent five months developing a proposed historic district. The district is intended to serve as a catalyst to encourage economic revitalization of the area. Tuesday, July 4th, marks the 156th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the City of Vallejo. Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo was born in Monterey, California, on July 7, 1808, the eighth child in a family of thirteen children. The parents were Don Ignacio Vicente Ferrer Vallejo and Senora Marie Antonia Lugo Vallejo.
