County abounds with sites to uncover region's past
Most of these organizations have a membership service and welcome volunteers. Following is a listing of these centers, sites and resources:
Sources on Solano County history abound
This is the second in a two-part series devoted to providing a list of history centers and historical sites in Solano County. These places offer a myriad of activities that enhance our regional heritage and teach people about the area's exciting past.
History centers, sites found all over county

Commerce ebbs, expands in Solano past
In 1873, Suisun City was enjoying its place as the hub of activity in the county. In that town, it was tradition to welcome in the New Year and ring out the old by ringing both the church and fire bells.
Musical chairs in Fairfield
Information for this article came from the Fairfield Library and the Vacaville Heritage Council. Benicia was the first county seat of Solano County. By 1858, it was clear a more centrally located county seat was needed to accommodate the growing population of the region.
Historic sites hidden by a veil of the past
Perhaps in this piece I'll raise an awareness of the rapidly disappearing historic sites that we are losing in Solano County or of those that have already vanished because so little is known about them.
