Marcus Lopez is the son of Mexican migrant farm laborers. He now teaches English at Solano Community College. He graduated from the University of Santa Clara. He also studied at University of California, Berkeley and San Francisco State University.

Last in a series In the fall of 1856, several families traveling in wagon trains and with cattle passed through Solano County from Santa Clara County bound for some of the northern counties. A great many families were said to be immigrating to the north.

Vallejo had short-lived stint as state capital / Bowen, Jerry [782] [WAYITWAS-2007-782]
The next time you are in the area bounded by York, Santa Clara, Maine and Sacramento streets in Vallejo, you will be near a long-gone historic site. Back in 1852 a two-story building sporting two flags dominated a hill that was centrally located between those streets.
