Township of Tremont never really took off / Delaplane, Kristin [250] [ECHOS-1995-250]
Information for this article came from the Dixon Historical Society, the Dixon Public Library, and the Solano Genealogical Society. In 1855, the northeastern portion of Solano County was designated a township by the Board of Supervisors. This township, called Tremont, was adjacent to the Silveyville Township.

Information for this article came from the Vacaville Historical Society, Vacaville Museum, Solano Genealogical Society and Fairfield Public Library. Green Valley was officially established in 1853, and as it became inhabited was described by a writer of the time as being almost a Garden of Eden:

In my last column I diverted a little from the story when the sink was identified as a sacrarium and helped identify the stone portion of the "Canevascini Winery" as possibly the original Santa Eulalia Chapel building and its significance as a historical site.

Fires and family life at the Water Works / Bowen, Jerry [567] [WAYITWAS-2005-567]
Some of the most interesting local history comes from the people who lived it. Last year, during the Solano County Historical Society's Pioneer Days Celebration, I was very fortunate to meet Betty Davis who lives in Fairfield. While we were talking, she asked me if I would be interested in a family history that was written by her mother, Edith Lucille Venning.

Historic adobe slowly deteriorates / Bowen, Jerry [87] [WAYITWAS-2001-87]
Surrounded by a protective wooden shell with a leaky roof, Solano County's second oldest adobe building, located about a mile and a quarter east of Collinsville, is slowly crumbling back into its original elements.
