Launching of the Armored Cruiser "California" Program
ABSTRACT: Souvenir Program from the launching of the armored cruiser "California" under the auspices of the Native Sons of the Golden West. At the Union Iron Works, San Francisco, April 28, 1904. Her principal dimensions are as follows: Length on load water line, 502 feet; extreme breadth, 69 1/2, feet; mean draught, 24 feet 1 inch; extreme draught, 26 feet 6 inches; displacement, 13.440 tons. Her engines will be twin-screw, of the four-cylinder triple expansion type, developing 23,000 indicated horse power, and 120 revolutions per minute, at a maximum speed of 22 knots.
