Suisun newspapers face off over charges

Delaplane, Kristin

Dec 01, 1996

Abstract: In 1863, at least two newspapers were being published in Solano County, both located in Suisun City. The Solano County Herald, which debuted back in 1855, billed itself as "the county's official paper." Ownership had changed over the years. In 1863, the man in charge was O.B. Powers. O.B. Powers and Co., having made important additions to their stock of printing materials, were ready to print books, blanks, bill heads, circulars, ball tickets, programs, posters, and cards.
